BROOKLYN - In an effort to get guns off of the streets, a gun buyback event will be held in Coney Island tomorrow.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coney Island Gospel Assembly Church on Neptune Avenue. It’s being sponsored by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, the city’s police commissioner and City Councilman Domenic Recchia Jr.
There are a few rules to be aware of for those planning to turn in a gun. The weapon must be in a plastic or paper bag, or in a box. If the gun is being transported by car, it must be stored in the trunk.
Anyone is eligible to turn in a functioning gun with no questions asked. In return, $200 bank cards will be distributed. There is no limit on how many guns can be surrendered, but payment will only be received for up to three guns.
