PARK SLOPE - Livery cab drivers throughout Brooklyn want to ensure that they are safe, especially after the string of robberies.

The New York City Federation of cab drivers is pressing to pass an ?Amber Alert? type system that will allow drivers to be alerted of crime. According to the drivers, this will allow them to have more communication with each other and the police, ensuring their safety.

Right now the only form of communication cab drivers have with the police is a light on the back of their car to alert officers of a driver in distress. However, this would only help if a police officer both noticed the light and responded accordingly.
