WOODBURY - Cablevision made a new offer to News Corp. today to end the stalemate between the two companies.Cablevision officials say that they have agreed to pay the rate Fox charges Time Warner Cable for carriage of WNYW-Fox 5 New York and WTXF-Fox 29 Philadelphia for a period of one year. "This is higher than the rate we pay any other New York broadcast station," the statement released today by Cablevision read. "This solution is in the best interest of not only baseball fans but of all Cablevision and Fox viewers."

Cablevision officials say there has been "absolutely no movement by Fox" to end the standoff. News Corp. has been demanding more money from Cablevision to carry its network.

Cablevision says it's continuing to "negotiate in good faith" to stop the stalemate that's blacked out Fox 5 and My9 channels since Oct. 16.

Cablevision had also asked News Corp. to agree to binding arbitration, which the company rejected.

Cablevision Chief Executive Jim Dolan flew to Washington to meet the head of the Federal Communications Commission in hopes of brokering a deal.

Cablevision is the parent company of News 12 Long Island.
