BROOKLYN - Neighbors in Coney Island and Brighton Beach held a candlelight vigil to mark the first anniversary of Superstorm Sandy.

The event was hosted by the Brooklyn Long Term Recovery Group and the Shorefront YM-YWHA.

Candles were lit Tuesday at 7:45 p.m., the moment power went out across the community.

Those who gathered at the vigil said the event should serve as a reminder of how far Brooklyn residents have come and how much is still left to do.
