BAY RIDGE - A residence for disabled adults is receiving funding for a complete renovation.

The Martini Residence cares for adults with disabilities, but it has been struggling to provide residents with what they need for years.

Council Member Vincent Gentile and City Council are donating more than $800,000 for a complete renovation.

Nine disabled residents live at the Martini Residence and more than 70 percent of the residents are older than 50.

Once the renovations are completed, the facility will have central air conditioning, an elevator, ramps, accessible bathrooms, electrical and plumbing upgrades.

The executive director says the construction will start in about a year and a half, and is expected to take about eight months to be completed.
