BROOKLYN - "Cardio Kool Kids" is changing the way kids spend their time outside of the classroom with high-powered workouts for students.

Program creator Amy Head says the instructors go into schools, churches and rec centers, and meet weekly over several months. “We talk about nutrition and lots of topics around health and wellness,” says Head.

Officials say this after-school program simply adds to what the students are already learning in the classroom.

"Cardio Kool Kids" is now accepting new locations. I.S. 5 in Queens is currently participating in the program.
