Caregivers rally for benefits at Brookdale Hospital

BROOKLYN - Hundreds of caregivers rallied outside of Brookdale Hospital today to protest the continued loss of their health care benefits.

Workers say they and their families lost their health care coverage because Brookdale Hospital owed $27 million to their benefit fund.

Additional benefits were cut after the hospital owed about $4 million more. Many also say the hospital has failed to pay the workers' pension fund this month and haven't received raises in two years.Brookdale Hospital says a deal has been reached with the union though it has not been in place because the hospital is trying to figure out when they can pay that money.
