Carroll Street Bridge to close for 2 weeks of repairs

PARK SLOPE - The 121-year-old Carroll Street Bridge will be closed for two weeks starting tomorrow for repairs.

The bridge connects Park Slope and Carroll Gardens over the Gowanus Canal.

According to the New York City Department of Transportation, the bridge is one of the oldest in New York City.

Officials say they will be working on the mechanism that allows the bridge to retract.

Alternatives for drivers and pedestrians include the Third Street Bridge and the Union Street Bridge.
