Case of radio reporter's death begins again after mistrial

BROOKLYN - A new trial is expected to begin today in the murder of a radio newsman in his Brooklyn home.

After three days of deliberations, jurors said they were deadlocked on a verdict for 18-year-old John Katehis last week. Katehis is accused of stabbing George Weber more than 50 times in his Carroll Gardens home in March 2009.

Prosecutors say Weber met Katehis, who was 16 at the time, through a Craigslist ad the teen posted offering sex for money. The defense argued Weber preyed on an underage, money-desperate boy and that the stabbings were in self-defense.

A new defense lawyer and prosecutor will be taking over the second trial.
