Cat torturer sentenced to six months in jail

BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn man will be sentenced today after he was found guilty of killing a cat with an umbrella in 2009.

Lordtyshon Garrett will spend six months in jail and an additional five years on probation on animal cruelty charges. He was found guilty of beating a cat, named Madea, with an umbrella. The cat suffered a collapsed lung and she had to be euthanized afterward.

Garrett will also have to undergo anger management training and perform 20 days of community service.
