Cats left orphaned after owner is killed

BROOKLYN - Nearly a dozen cats in Bay Ridge are in need of a new home after their owner was unexpectedly killed last week.

Neighbor Lilo Lorentz has temporarily taken in the 11 felines, who were left to fend for themselves when their caretaker was hit by a truck.

The cats' previous owner had struggled to care for all of them and it took months to nurse them back to health, with help from the NYC Feral Cat Initiative .

So far, four cats have been adopted into the same home, but the other eight are still waiting.
