CDC issues new mumps warning for Passover

BOROUGH PARK - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a new mumps warning Sunday in preparation for the Jewish holiday of Passover.

The CDC says the recent mumps outbreak has hit the Orthodox Jewish communities in Brooklyn, like Williamsburg, Crown Heights and Borough Park, and the Hudson Valley hard.

Since many families will be in close quarters while celebrating Passover this week, the CDC urges people to refrain from sharing food and drinks in an effort to avoid spreading the illness.

Anyone experiencing symptoms of the mumps, such as fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen glands, or loss of appetite should seek medical attention.
