WILLIAMSBURG - Williamsburg residents who thought they had a job with the U.S. Census Bureau were disappointed and irate today after being turned away.

The applicants say they received calls telling them to show up at the local census office, but weren't given jobs when they got there. The office's manager, Alvin Aviles, says some people were misinformed and sent to the wrong training site.

Aviles says mistakes are bound to happen when thousands of people are being hired.
