BROOKLYN - City officials today held a ribbon cutting to mark the completion of the first phase of a historic landscape restoration project at Prospect Park.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Borough President Marty Markowitz were among those who celebrated the new Chaim Baier Music Island and the Shelby White and Leon Levy Esplanade.

The music island is only one part of a plan to restore the area to its original 1867 design. The entire project is expected to be completed next fall.
