BROOKLYN - Chaka Khan turned out to kick off the 37th year of the Celebrate Brooklyn concert series at Prospect Park Wednesday.

The performance by the "Queen of Funk" marks the first of this year's 24 free, open-air concerts. 

Five other concerts in the 29-act series will charge admission.

The 2015 lineup includes a variety of acts ranging from jazz artist Esperanza Spalding to singer-songwriter Damien Rice.

Food and shopping are also available.
