BROOKLYN - A change in command at the U.S. Army Recruiting Company of North Brooklyn will see an all-female team in charge of bringing in new recruits.

Capt. Mia Mayers will be taking over for Capt. Stephen Gerry, who will be going to a new position in California. She is now in charge of a team who will be going out into the community and finding new recruits to defend the country.

Mayers' second in command is 1st Sgt. Beverly Flores. The two are breaking new ground because, for the first time in five years, the recruiting team will be under an all-female leadership.

The recruiting company's first main job will be to travel and interact with people in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. Capt. Mayers says their first stop will be appearances in schools.
