Child pulled from manhole in Borough Park

BROOKLYN - A child is recovering after falling into a manhole in Borough Park Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at 13th Avenue and 49th Street at around 9 a.m.

EMS said Moshe Altmin, 10, was taken to Lutheran Hospital with a bruised right leg and has been released.

Witnesses say the child was crossing the street when somehow he tumbled down 15 feet into the manhole.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection says its crews found a broken manhole cover inside the sewer line. Workers have replaced the manhole cover and are investigating the incident.
