Child recovering after falling down park sewer drain

BROOKLYN - A 12-year-old child is recovering after falling down an uncovered sewer drain in a Brooklyn park.

The incident occurred near Belmont Avenue and Vermont Street. Friends say he was running and fell into the uncovered sewer hole.

Parks Department officials were informed about the sewer hole two weeks prior but say vandals must have removed the cover in place.

Police temporarily covered up the sewer hole with a barrel and caution tape.
