Chris Papadimitropoulos facing hate crime charges in Bay Ridge religious vandalism spree

BROOKLYN - Police say they have caught the man who went on a vandalism spree targeting churches and a Jewish center in Bay Ridge.

According to investigators, 55-year-old Chris Papadimitropoulos, of Brooklyn, was arrested on several charges, including six felony counts of criminal mischief as a hate crime.

Papadimitropoulos allegedly used red spray paint to deface statues, walkways and mailboxes at five religious sites and two residential locations.

The vandalized locations include St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church, Union Church of Bay Ridge, Bay Ridge Jewish Center, Bay Ridge Preparatory School, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church and St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church.
