BROOKLYN - The man who police say confessed to killing a 14-year-old Brooklyn girl is expected to appear in criminal court today.

According to investigators, 20-year-old Christian Ferdinand, of Maine, is facing second-degree murder charges in the death of Shaniesha Forbes last January.

The Kings County District Attorney's Office says that Ferdinand admitted to suffocating the teenager with a pillow because he thought she was pregnant. He then allegedly hid her body for two days before setting it on fire in Gerritsen Beach.

Forbes' family says she was not pregnant, and they had no idea she was seeing Ferdinand.
