Christmas morning fire leaves Bushwick family homeless

BUSHWICK - A Brooklyn family is homeless after its home in Bushwick was destroyed by a two-alarm fire Christmas morning.Janet Rivera's son says he woke up smelling smoke around 6:30 a.m. He says he ran to the convenience store and dialled 911. Rivera says her entire life was in the home, but is just glad her children are safe and her four cats were rescued.Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire and say they believe it may have started in the kitchen. The fire also spread to the house next door and caused damage to the second floor.
