EAST NEW YORK - An East New York church that was damaged by a Christmas Day fire is hoping generous people in the community will come forward to help so its doors can remain open.

The fire at Isaiah's Temple on Glenmore Avenue was sparked by a Christmas tree in the early hours of Christmas morning. No one was injured and the structure is still safe, but the church's foundation sustained some damage.

Pastor Voni Johyn is now asking for donations from the community to help make repairs. She says the church doesn't have any insurance and is faced with other financial troubles.
