BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - A plan to move the Brooklyn Heights Library to a church on Remsen Street is not sitting well with one library advocacy group.

The Brooklyn Public Library branch is slated to move into Eparchy of Saint Maron at the end of the month while a new library is being built at Cadman Plaza.

Love Brooklyn Libraries, Inc. has a pending lawsuit that claims the new library could cause traffic congestion in the area.

They also have worries about the interim library inside the church. Marsha Rimler says the church will have to address fire safety questions, as well as keep free access to books that contain thoughts or beliefs counter to the beliefs of the church.

The Brooklyn Public Library told News 12 that all necessary inspections will be done before the library opens.

Bishop Gregory Mansour says, "as long as they're not promoting anything outrageous, we'll accommodate them."

The Brooklyn Public Library will be renting the church hall until the new library is complete in about 3 ½ years.
