BROOKLYN - The Food and Drug Administration has unveiled nine new graphic labels that must appear on cigarette packaging and ads, starting next year.

Three of the labels show decaying teeth, a corpse and a woman crying, all warning consumers of the significant health dangers they face, should they choose to light up.

The FDA hopes that the new labels will help smokers kick the habit and also prevent younger people from starting. The FDA requires that the labels cover 50 percent of the front and back of the cigarette box by September 2012.
