BROOKLYN - A special party was held at Boys and Girls High School in Bed-Stuy on Saturday that aimed to empower young women.

The event was part career fair, part fashion show, and it was organized by a group called the Cinderella Project. Racks of donated dresses and shoes were available at no charge for girls looking for prom dresses or high heels.

Tables from different organizations were set up to provide information on everything from public health to finance tips.

The point of the event was to boost self-esteem and help the young women who attended to feel their best.

The Cinderella Project says it hopes to host an event for young Brooklyn men some time in the next year.
