Circus comes to Coney Island for the summer

CONEY ISLAND - It was all about the big top Friday when Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus announced it was coming to Coney Island this summer.

The circus will be in town from June to early September. An empty lot on West 21st Street will house tigers, elephants and more.

Some locals hope the circus will help Coney Island stay in business. A battle has been going on between developers, who want to tear down much of the attractions, and the city, which wants to keep Coney Island the way it is.

Meanwhile, as tickets are handed out for the circus, many just hope it lives up to its name of being the greatest show on Earth.
