BROOKLYN - A New York City biking company celebrated its expansion in Brooklyn Tuesday night.

Citi Bike has just moved into the area. As a way of introducing the company to the neighborhood, organizers of the bike-share program held a day of free outdoor activities for Brooklyn residents.

Residents had a chance to increase their cycling skills with an urban bike class that taught people how to maneuver in New York City.

"It's one thing to know how to ride a bike. It's another thing to know how to ride a bike," says Williamsburg resident Ben Chan. "New York City streets - with the cars, trucks and buses - it's really important and it's a great service that they are offering."

Citi Bike started expanding its program into northern Brooklyn nearly two weeks ago.

By the end of the month, the company says it expects to have 80 new stations in Williamsburg, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Greenpoint.

Keeping with the theme of biking, organizers had a showing of "ET" at a makeshift "bike-in" theater.

Citi Bike is promising to double the amount of bikes across the city over the next two years.
