City celebrates opening of Park Slope affordable housing

PARK SLOPE - This morning, the city celebrated the opening of a new affordable housing complex in Park Slope with a ribbon cutting.

The building, which is located at 575 5th Ave., will now serve as a permanent residence for those who were formally homeless or have special needs.

The property was once a parking lot and several business owners are saying the project would wipe out the only municpal parking the area had. Others are concerned with the type of people it would bring to the neighborhood.
