City Council approves new alternate-side parking bill

SUNSET PARK - The City Council has approved a bill that would allow neighborhoods to earn the right to decrease alternate-side parking days.

The bill would allow some blocks to have street cleaning one day a week, opposed to twice a week.

Officials say the bill would apply to the community boards that earn high cleanliness ratings for two years in a row.

Although the new law may allow one less day to move cars, some residents say parking will still be a hassle.
