City Council passes Student Safety Act

The City Council has passed a bill aimed at helping the Department of Education and the NYPD to team up and cut down on violence

BROOKLYN - The City Council has passed a bill aimed at helping the Department of Education and the NYPD to team up and cut down on violence in schools across the city.

The legislation is called the Student Safety Act. Under the bill, the Department of Education and the NYPD will now have to make regular reports regarding school suspensions, student arrests and summonses.
