BROOKLYN - The New York City Council has released the list of fire companies in danger of closing under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's 2012 budget plan.

Eight out of the 20 engine companies slated to close are in Brooklyn. They include FDNY houses on Grand Street, Hart Street, Rockaway Avenue and West 8th Street.

One company not on the list is Engine 271 in Bushwick, which residents and firefighters had been fighting for after it narrowly escaped closure in previous cuts.
