BROOKLYN - The City Council will vote on Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposed budget today.
The $66 billion budget will avert laying off thousands of teachers. Officials have estimated that 2,000 teaching jobs will still be lost through attrition, leaving 73,000 to teach more than 1 million students.
Other city services are still expected to face cuts.
