City DOT unveils New Lots Triangle Plaza

BROOKLYN - The city's Department of Transportation unveiled its renovation of the New Lots Triangle today, and it features lots of bright, open space for pedestrians. The changes are designed to reduce traffic in the area and to make it safer for walkers. City officials say the changes to the plaza will reduce accidents, too. The Department of Transportation says intersections in the area were dangerous before the new plaza was completed. Fourteen people were injured, including five pedestrians, at the spot between 2006-2010. Local business owners say they hope the changes will bring more traffic into their shops.
