THE BRONX - The snow has come and gone, but freezing temperatures are here to stay, making for some slick roads and sidewalks.

The city's Office of Emergency Management issued a travel advisory for this morning's commute after temperatures dropped into the teens overnight, creating pockets of black ice on wet pavement.

Drivers are advised slow down, monitor weather and traffic reports, and use major roadways when possible because those are cleared and salted.

Those traveling on foot are reminded of black ice on walkways, and should be weary of cars, especially at intersections that could be slippery. It's also important to dress in layers to protect against the cold, including a hat and gloves.

The Department of Sanitation was out all night coating roads citywide with thousands of tons of salt.

The weather is expected to stay below freezing until Saturday.
