BROOKLYN - The city's Department of Consumer Affairs has launched an online toolbox that could help small business owners avoid some hefty fines.

Many owners in Brooklyn complain that they've been fined by the city's Health Department for regulations they didn't even know existed. The new business toolbox sets out to change that by clearly laying out exactly what's on inspection checklists.

Brooklyn Councilman David Greenfield says the initiative finally provides some clarity and understanding on what to expect when an inspector shows up.
