City's largest Christmas meal hosted in BK

PARK SLOPE - Hundreds of volunteers worked Friday at a Brooklyn YMCA to serve a Christmas meal to more than 2,000 Brooklyn residents.

The event at the YMCA on 9th Street is the city's largest Christmas meal and has been held each year for the past two decades. In addition to gourmet food, residents who attend are also given clothing and other essentials.

Some of the volunteers included neighborhood children and teens who say giving back at this time of year is especially important.

"My mom instilled that value of giving back to people who don't have it like we do," Jazmyne Anderson, a volunteer, says.
