EAST NEW YORK - Several affordable housing buildings in Brooklyn will receive millions of dollars in upgrades over the next few years, according to the borough president.

Eric Adams announced Thursday that the city has set aside $3 million to maintain those buildings and build new ones in Brooklyn.

East New York's 442 Logan St. housing complex is among the sites that will benefit. It will receive $500,000 worth of renovations to about 80 units, according to officials.

Tenants Jose Rodriguez and his wife Sara say they are overwhelmed with joy.

Brooklyn has a reputation for being one of the most unaffordable places to live in the city, but Adams is trying to change that notion.

Construction on new buildings will begin in the fall and is expected to take about two years to complete.
