PARK SLOPE - Victory in the controversial race for the 11th Congressional District seat went to Yvette Clarke, but now challenger David Yassky is calling for a recount.

Clarke won by a small percentage of the vote with only about 2,000 votes separating the candidates. Yassky, who was competing against three black candidates in the historically black district, received a hero's welcome when he arrived back at his headquarters in Park Slope. He is seeking a recount and says it is for the benefit of the voters. The other two candidates in the race were Carl Andrews and Chris Owens.

The 11th Congressional District seat was up for grabs after Rep. Major Owens announced his retirement.
