SHEEPSHEAD BAY - The threat of Hurricane Irene has the city's Office of Emergency Management warning residents of low-lying areas to be ready for possible evacuations.

Residents of Coney Island and Sheepshead Bay were out stocking up on emergency supplies like flashlights and batteries today. Boat owners were tying down their crafts, or pulling them out of the water.

City officials are urging residents to secure or move objects in their yards that could be lifted by strong gusts of wind.
