Cobble Hill neighbors push to extend park hours

BROOKLYN - Cobble Hill residents are petitioning to extend the hours of the neighborhood's popular park. Neighbors want to push the Cobble Hill Park closing time from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. They say some residents have been given tickets because they've unknowingly used the park after hours. Police have worked with parks to close at certain times to prevent drug activity, but residents feel it's unfair if they are simply passing through.A Park's Department official says the department is aware of the community's support for extending the closing time and that it is waiting on a formal request from Community Board 5.
