BROOKLYN - Neighbors in Cobble Hill have collected hundreds of signatures in an effort to put the brakes on speeding drivers.

Residents gathered on Hicks and Congress streets Tuesday night to call attention to what they say is an incredibly dangerous intersection as cars speed and swerve off the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. They say a stop sign, speed bumps or another preventative measure should be installed.

The petition was started online after a yellow taxi struck and killed a 5-year-old boy as he was crossing the street back in April. Since then, more than 300 people have joined the cause.
