BROOKLYN - Community members are lending their support to a now-single mother whose family lost everything in a fatal fire in Bushwick on Monday.

Flames tore through an apartment building, killing a father and two of his children. The man's wife and six surviving children are now struggling to get by, but the kids' school says they've recorded their clothing and shoe sizes in hopes of gathering donations.

Parents at the school say they plan to pitch in and help while the Red Cross continues working on a permanent home for the family.
