BROOKLYN - Local churches and non-profit organizations have received a huge donation of food to help those in need this Thanksgiving.

Borough President Marty Markowitz says his office, along with several other local companies, donated six tons of holiday fixings and nearly 1,000 turkeys.

More than 100 groups benefited from the donations.
