BROOKLYN - Community leaders are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can give information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who fatally stabbed a cab driver.

Livery cab driver Orjiama Uro crashed into a Brownsville home on Boyland Street at around 5:30 p.m. yesterday after being stabbed in the face by a passenger.

Police say the 54-year-old cab driver got into an argument with a man and woman when he was attacked. Fernando Mateo, president of the state's Federation of Taxi Drivers, says Uro was a hero.

Uro's 22-year-old son says his father was an incredible person who always put his family first. He says Uro worked as a livery cab driver until all hours of the night so that he could always provide for his family.

Anyone with information about the deadly stabbing can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls are kept confidential.
