Community rallies to save child care, senior centers

BROOKLYN - Parents and community members in Williamsburg rallied today to save their community child care and senior centers.

Nuestros Ninos Child Day Care, Small World Day Care and the Swinging Sixties Senior Center are all at risk of closing.

Local leaders say the problem is the buildings’ landlords have drastically increased the rent.

The private landlords have also begun eviction cases, but parents and community members are demanding that Mayor Bill de Blasio not abandon them and step up to continue funding the free or low-cost programs.

News 12 reached out to the landlords, but has not heard back.
