Company fined in fatal Brighton Beach building collapse

BROOKLYN - A construction company has been slapped with 11 safety violations for a fatal building collapse in Brighton Beach last fall.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), SP & K Construction failed to ensure the building was stable. The structure buckled on Brighton 5th Street, killing one worker and injuring four others.

The construction company faces more than $77,000 in fines. It was previously issued nine violations from the city Buildings Department.
