BROOKLYN - Manhole fires have popped up across the borough this weekend causing more than 800 Brooklyn households to lose power.

Con Ed is reporting that the snowstorm recovery is to blame. They claim that salt and water have been leaking into the manhole covers, and therefore corroding the wires.

The situation on Rockaway Avenue got so bad that it blew while a Con Ed worker was attempting to repair the problem. He was taken to Kings County Hospital for burns.

Con Ed says it is trying to restore power as soon as possible.
