BROOKLYN - With a possible winter storm heading this way, Con Edison is offering some important tips to ensure the safety of all New Yorkers.

Utility officials say residents should never touch downed electrical wires.

If power does go out, disconnect or turn off all appliances that would automatically turn on when service comes back.

It's also important to check to see if flashlights and battery-operated radios are working.

Keeping extra batteries on hand is also important
