Coney Island shops remain open despite vacate orders

BROOKLYN - Business owners, lawyers and state Sen. Carl Kruger gathered at the Coney Island boardwalk today as eight food stands continue their battle to remain open.

Zamperla, the owner of Luna Park, issued vacate orders for businesses it says do not meet its vision for the boardwalk's future. Owners say that despite being ordered to close three days ago, they are staying open and will continue to fight for their well-being.

Kruger says he hopes he can help. The attorney for the eight shops says the group is now waiting on Zamperla to serve them court papers so they can do the same in return.
