BROOKLYN - Dozens of Coney Island businesses damaged by Superstorm Sandy have been awarded more than $100,000 in recovery grants.

The relief organization #ConeyRecovers handed out the money at Gargiulo's Restaurant. Those involved say it's not just about getting businesses back on track, but also about strengthening the community as a whole.

The grants came from donations that were privately fundraised.
